Change Image DPI for Print and Web
The free DPI Fixer tool allows you to instantly modify the Dots Per Inch (DPI) metadata of your images. Whether you are preparing a document for high-quality professional printing or optimizing graphics for web display, adjusting your DPI ensures your files are handled correctly by printers and software.
Understanding DPI: Print vs. Web
- 300 DPI (High Resolution Print): This is the industry standard for professional printing. Setting your image to 300 DPI tells the printer to pack ink dots densely, resulting in sharp, high-quality physical prints like flyers, business cards, and photos.
- 72 DPI (Web Standard): Historically the standard for computer monitors, changing an image to 72 DPI is useful when optimizing images to be displayed on screens, keeping the focus on pixel dimensions rather than physical print size.
How to Change Image DPI
- Select Images: Upload one or more JPG, PNG, or WebP files to the converter.
- Choose Target DPI: Click the quick-select buttons for 72 DPI (Web) or 300 DPI (Print). Alternatively, type a custom DPI value into the input field if your specific project requires it (e.g., 150 DPI for draft prints).
- Process: Click "Change DPI". The tool will instantly rewrite the image metadata without re-compressing or degrading the visual quality of your photo.
- Download Files: Save your newly formatted images, ready for the printing press or the web.
